What do you think is more unethical?
Do you believe that cloning human embryos for embryonic stem cell research is more unethical that creating synthetic life? rnPersonally, cloning human embryos is a touchy subject because we are talking about a human embryo a potential fetus, thus potential human. Though, if this was allowed, we would be able to detect embryonic stem cells, possibly stop spending billions of dollars on researching why salamanders grow legs, and actually try to find an embryonic stem cell that depicts the same activity so that way when you lose an arm, a lung or heart you can grow one back yourself! Now, that it turn would be excellent, solving health conditions, extending life and possibly immortality but the upside is -- it is all human 100% no robotics, artificial hearts, synthetic arms, non-human components, and you aren't "playing God" you are just manipulating God's creations something we already do, vaccinations, genetically modified plants food, etc... THOUGH on the other hand, Synthetic Biology, here we ARE playing God, we are creating organisms from scratch , we are genetically altering and creating new species from scratch not manipulation from SCRATCH. We do not know how they work, how they mutate, if they will mutate. Some synthetic organisms are made of inorganic materials. Synthetic Biology is happening, no one is in uproar no one is complaining, they claim human cloning is playing God? I think people have their wires crossed. Now, if synthetic biology goes forward we can look forward to a life of new species created, alteration of HUMAN species and integration with information technology as - SynBio is actually information technology based and DNA is referred to as software and non-organic components seems to work better than synthesized organic materials. I think this is the path of the human species destruction and the fact that the MEDIA have not informed the public is even more alarming.
